In the 2007/2008 racing season, the Alice Springs Turf Club will conduct 34 racemeetings and will distribute prizemoney in excess of $1.4 million to the active participants – owners, trainers and jockeys.

The majority of racedays at Pioneer Park feature between four-six races, however, this number swells to seven/eight events at the Club’s five Carnival days in April/May. The Club’s meetings are supported by runners trained by in excess of 20 trainers, the majority of them based right on the track. While jockey numbers fluctuate during the year, the Club usually has 8-10 riders who take the raceday mounts.

An obvious advantage of being a trainer based in Alice Springs is there is no travel involved in competing at Pioneer Park – horses simply have to walk from the back straight stables or Club stables on the South Stuart Highway border to the day stalls at the course.
